Board of Studies

As per the guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC), the Board of Studies (BoS) is the academic body at the departmental level in an autonomous institution. At Achievers College of Commerce and Management (Night College), Kalyan (W) the all the department’s BoS plays a pivotal role in ensuring academic excellence, curriculum relevance, and continuous quality enhancement.

Functions of Board of Studies

  1. Curriculum Development and Revision
  • Designing, framing, and periodically revising the syllabi for Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Certificate/Diploma programmes.
  • Ensuring that the curriculum is contemporary, industry-oriented, outcome-based, and aligned with national and global academic standards.
  • Incorporating feedback received from stakeholders such as students, alumni, industry experts, and academicians to enhance curriculum relevance and employability.
  1. Academic Standards and Evaluation
  • Recommending examination schemes, assessment patterns, internal evaluation methods, and grading systems in accordance with UGC norms.
  • Preparing and updating panels of question paper setters, examiners, and moderators.
  • Reviewing examination results and student performance to suggest academic improvements and remedial measures.
  1. Academic Innovation and Enrichment
  • Introducing new and innovative courses, including interdisciplinary, skill-based, value-added, and ability enhancement courses.
  • Recommending MOOCs, SWAYAM courses, and micro-credentials for credit transfer and academic enrichment.
  • Promoting blended and technology-enabled learning practices.
  1. Quality Assurance and Academic Governance
  • Conducting meetings at least twice in a year (or as prescribed) to review academic planning and implementation.
  • Recommending prescribed textbooks, reference materials, and digital resources.
  • Suggesting measures to strengthen teaching-learning processes, research culture, and faculty development initiatives.
  • Formulating academic regulations and forwarding recommendations to the Academic Council for approval.
  1. Advisory Role
  • Advising the Academic Council on all academic matters related to curriculum design, assessment reforms, academic standards, and quality enhancement initiatives of the department
