As per the guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC), the Governing Body (GB) is the apex statutory authority of the college. It is responsible for providing strategic direction, framing policies, ensuring effective governance, and guiding the overall development of the institution, particularly in the case of autonomous colleges. The Governing Body of Achievers College of Commerce and Management (Night College), Kalyan (W) functions within the framework of UGC, University, and Government regulations, ensuring academic excellence, transparency, and institutional accountability.

Key Functions of Governing Body

  1. Vision and Policy Formulation
  • Define and periodically review the Vision, Mission, and long-term objectives of the institution.
  • Frame strategic plans for academic growth, infrastructure development, and institutional excellence.
  1. Academic Oversight
  • Approve introduction of new programmes, courses, and revisions in syllabi in accordance with UGC and affiliating university norms.
  • Monitor academic quality, teaching–learning processes, research activities, and extension programmes.
  • Approve examination reforms and student assessment methodologies.
  1. Financial Management
  • Approve the annual budget and oversee financial planning.
  • Review audited statements of accounts and ensure proper utilization of funds.
  • Guide financial sustainability and resource mobilization initiatives
  1. Administration and Human Resource Management
  • Approve appointments of the Principal, teaching staff, and non-teaching staff as per prescribed norms.
  • Monitor faculty development, performance appraisal, promotions, and staff welfare measures.
  • Support professional development, training, and capacity-building initiatives.
  1. Compliance and Institutional Development
  • Consider and act upon communications received from UGC, affiliating University, Government, and statutory bodies.
  • Ensure strict adherence to UGC regulations, State and Central Government policies.
  • Promote accreditation, quality assurance mechanisms, research culture, and industry collaboration.
  • Encourage institution of scholarships, fellowships, awards, and student support schemes.
  1. Role after Autonomous Status of the Colleges

        The Governing Body plays a pivotal role by:

  • Granting approval for framing and revision of curricula in line with UGC’s Specification of Degrees.
  • Approving admission policies and fee structures within the framework of government and regulatory norms.
  • Ensuring academic autonomy is exercised responsibly while maintaining quality standards and accountability.
  1. Meetings of the Governing Body
  • The Governing Body shall ordinarily meet at least twice a year, or once every six months, as prescribed by UGC norms.
  • Special meetings may be convened whenever necessary to address urgent academic or administrative matters.
